Exploring Pingzhou
Pingzhou is a characterful village located within Xixiang Sub-District of Baoan District. It has gone through the urban renewal that nearby Baoan Center, Baoan Stadium and the area around Xixiang Metro Station have gone through but I am sure it will catch up at some point. Signs of that are emerging as there is a recently built 5 Star hotel, the Avant Garde, and the new Qianhai Tea city has just been opened. There are also many new residential developments underway.
As you come out of exit C at Pingzhou station there’s a whole bunch of snack shops and eateries. Skip that and head down the laneway for a characterful experience.
The laneway is packed with street stalls and snack shops who sell there handmade goods to the daily foot traffic that goes to and from the residences and the metro station. If you have only ever hung around the big districts like Nanshan, Futian, Luohu then this could be something interesting to check out for a different view.
At night the street side restaurants really come to life, and it’s packed every night. You won’t find any English service, but many have picture menus, just walk along the footpath and there’ll be someone holding a menu which you can browse.
Just across from the Times Mall, located on Baoyuan South Road is Qianhai Tea City, as you guessed, it’s packed with everything related to tea.
Just down the road from that is the 5-Star Avant Garde Hotel with its amazing architecture, it sits at the front of F518 Idea Land.
The F518 Idea Land is an artists base, it’s a great place for a stroll and they often feature shows on the weekends. There are also several coffee shops around there too.
The Times Mall has a cinema, restaurants and shopping.
Adjacent Times Mall is a pedestrian street which features several coffee shops.
