Xiaomeisha Resort & Beach
Xiaomeisha is located in Yantian District on the long coastline of Dapeng Bay in the east of Shenzhen. It is a famous seaside tourist resort. It is mainly composed of three major areas: the seaside area, Xiaomeisha Ocean World and Xiaomeisha Hotel. You can swim in the sea, play on the beach, and enjoy your relaxing seaside time.
The beach area, while quite acceptable and enjoyable, may not match the sand and water quality of the islands of Southeast Asia, but for the locals, it is a good place to relax on the water weekend, with sun, sand, and waves.
There are also a wealth of recreational activities and facilities such as showers, beach barbecue, jet skiing, and underwater diving. It is located beside Daimeisha beach with the difference being that Xiaomeisha charges an entry fee. The benefit here is that it is a more relaxed environment and not as busy and chaotic on weekends and holidays as Daimeisha.
Entry fee is 30 RMB off-peak and 50 RMB during holidays and peak months between of July and August.
You can also camp on the beach with tents available for hire although at last enquiry they were quite expensive at 150 RMB for a double tent, and 100 RMB deposit. You can take your own tent and pay a site fee of 30 RMB. You can also stay on the beach at the Xiaomeisha Hotel which can be booked via the Chinese owned cTrip/Trip.com. Although, if you are looking for a modern hotel resort with a private beach I would suggest the nearby Sheraton Dameisha Resort.
Other tips for visiting Xiameisha
1. Please buy your swimsuit in advance. It is always expensive to buy a swimsuit on the beach. It is not worthwhile.
2. The basic equipment here also needs to be charged separately, please be mentally prepared! For example, you need to store things before entering the water, and the storage is a fee, about 20 yuan. After swimming, showering also incurs a fee, price of hot and cold water is different, about 15-25 RMB.
3. Food is expensive inside the area, and at last enquiry, you can’t get a pass out, if you leave the area you need to buy a new ticket to re-enter.
4. Even though it is a paid entry beach, it still gets busy on public holidays, my best tip is to avoid holiday periods and especially avoid visiting the area during national holidays.
